Orthotic Therapy
Orthotics are devices that help in providing realignment of the feet for optimal functionality during activity. They also aid in the reduction and redistribution of high-pressure areas in the feet.
As feet function differently from person to person, orthotics are tailored specifically to the individual's needs as part of their overall management plan.
Factors to consider are:
• the force and support required to achieve efficient mobility and function through the lower limbs and feet;
• the sports or activities you will be primarily using the devices for;
• your presentation of injury or complaint;
• your sensitivity to ground reaction forces;
• your height, age, and weight.
Footwear and orthotics go hand-in-hand with one another and work best in combination of other treatment modalities such as exercises to aid in the overall strengthening of the feet and legs.
