Ingrown Toenail Resection / Avulsion
If conservative management of a ingrown toenail does not succeed, surgical management may be recommended. This is where the offending section of the nail plate is removed, and destruction of the matrix with phenol prevents the section of nail from growing back. This procedure is performed under local anaesthetic.
Patients are able to walk out of the treatment room and generally do not need to take time off work following the procedure.
All our Podiatrists are qualified to perform ingrowing toenail resections and avulsions.
