After seeing thousands of patients, one of the main concerns that we have found time and time again are patients coming in with fungal toenails, tinea on their skin, warts and infections caused by ingrown toenails from poorly trained nail technicians.

We know that it may be cheaper to go to one of these salons, but the sterility standards are unfortunately not up to scratch. From un-sterilised instruments, E-file drill bits with nail and skin buildup caked on them, re-used files to remove calluses on your feet... we've gone and done the research and seen it all. (It's not to say all salons are like this, but this is why knowledge around what to look for is so important!)

How are we different?

  • All the tools are either sterilised, or one-time use only (disposable). This means that absolutely nothing will be touching you if it's not been subjected to high-frequency soundwaves in our ultrasonic cleaner (the same that dentists use!), heated to 134° in our autoclave to kill off any bacteria/fungus, or is used only once with you (and you will have the option to take this away for yourself if you wish).

  • Infection control standards will be of the highest priority! Being a Podiatry clinic, we are always washing our hands, wearing gloves and just take in all the considerations of what it means to keep a place clean.

  • No foot jets. Those little bubble jets that you get from most pedicures are lovely but there is unfortunately no way to sterilise them completely. We have sourced a wonderful little foot spa that has a triple layer system including a disposable plastic liner, but it also has the massage bumps, and a heating and vibration function!

  • We decant our base coat in a separate pot and use a disposable nail brush for each person. This way, we are eliminating the possibility of pathogens entering a nail polish pot to infect another person.

  • Always have access to a Podiatrist. Our nail techs will be trained to be able to identify any skin and nail concerns and will therefore be able to refer onwards to a Podiatrist if necessary. Even if you have a quick question, they are usually around to help!
