COVID-19 UPDATE: Melbourne's in the naughty corner...

Hi! I hope you are well and staying safe at home.

What. A. Week. I finally got clarity this morning by the Australian Podiatry Association regarding how Podiatrists are operating under Stage 4 restrictions over the next 6 weeks.

Our goal here at 2 Right Feet Podiatry has always been keeping you, our patients and our wider community safe and healthy, and right now we can do that by reducing our movement. In saying that, we are happy to say that yes, we are still open, however we are only delivering critical services to patients who require face-to-face consultations during this time.

What a critical service? The Victorian Government has outlined this as “to provide a service that prevents a significant change or deterioration in the functional independence, necessitating escalation of care” such as avoiding a hospital admission or emergency department presentation.

This includes patients who have sustained a fracture, wounds or ingrowing toenail procedures (that if otherwise not treated, may result in infection). To put simply: If you are not seen within these 6 weeks, you would otherwise have to go to hospital for that problem.

For those with pain in their feet, ankles, legs, knees and so on, I am offering telehealth appointments to everybody to discuss about the problem and provide appropriate management plans.

This includes, teaching you how to tape your feet or knees, reviewing your exercises to ensure that your progress doesn’t regress while at home, writing referrals to imaging if we need to and other self-care tips. If you are within my 5km radius of Kilsyth, I am also happy to drop off any rehabilitation equipment if you need.

I will help keep you accountable, and make sure that when we start doing more things on our feet again after these 6 weeks, that we are not starting back at ground zero.

If you are unsure or have questions about whether you need an face-to-face appointment or a telehealth appointment, please feel free to give me a call on 0499 999 828 or email at jasmine@2rightfeet.com.au

For those who have appointments booked over the next 6 weeks, don’t worry – I will be contacting you tomorrow to either: change your appointment to a telehealth one, or we can discuss rescheduling your appointment to after September the 13th.

Thank you so much for supporting me through this whirlwind of a year, and thank you to those who have sent me so many kind emails and text messages, I really, really appreciate it. It makes me so incredibly happy to hear from you.  Keep safe and healthy my friends. We’re in this together, and we can do this.

With love,

Jasmine (Podiatrist)
